about cia

centre for interdisciplinary arts [cia]
cia studios was established by pvi collective in 2008 as a resource dedicated to providing a creative home for practitioners whose work sits on the edges of definition. cia studios supports the professional development of interdisciplinary artists placing an emphasis on live art, applied research, critical dialogue and experimentation with form and content.

housed in a two storey building on the cusp of perth city, cia provides dedicated studio space, technical resources and peer support to artists engaged in interdisciplinary arts practice. cia's program is managed and co-ordinated by pvi collective and includes local, national and international residencies, creative labs, workshops, in-progress showings and regular artist talks.

cia studios aims to provide a space for artists to exchange ideas, share skills, risk, fail, debate and experiment with the support of their peers.

cia studios is an initiative of pvi collective. launched by pvi in dec 2008, cia studios provide studio spaces and resources for artists and small companies working in the live art and interdisciplinary art sectors whose practice & processes sit at the edges of traditional artform genres. cia provides an opportunity for pvi collective and residents to generate a hub of artistic risk takers and provide dedicated space in which to exchange ideas, engage in critical debate, share skills and experiment with support from like-minded peers. cia is managed by pvi and its board and initiatives are curated by artists within the collective as well as associate cia artists.
